Game Developers Like You (Text Interviews): Call for Participants

Mar 5, 2015

This month marks 6 full years of, and to mark the occasion I’m trying something a bit different: open call for developer interviews! Advice, games, and perspectives from developers at a variety of experience levels will be this month’s entries.

The advice, games, and perspectives shared on the blog this month can be yours!

[April edit: I’ve extended these and I’ll be posting more of them in April! It’s still not too late to submit your responses if you’re seeing this in April 2015.]

Here’s the interview form if you or someone you know would like to participate.

  1. Rotorist says:

Hi Chris, I have submitted my interview form ๐Ÿ™‚ Would I be able to see the document I wrote after I submitted it and closed the window?

    • Chris DeLeon says:

Hello! You should be able to review or change your submissions if you’d like, as I checked the box on Google Forms to allow editing after submission. I’m however not 100% sure how reliably that works. (I assume you needed to be signed into a Google account at the time, unless they just do it via cookies etc.?)

      • Rotorist says:

hi Chris, after I submitted its basically gone with no trace of existence lol. i don’t see it anywhere, no confirmation email or anything. I just wanted to make sure it still exists and my hours spent on writing it did go wasted:) did it ever get shared with you?

        • Chris DeLeon says:

Hi Rotorist, I believe it came through – Skyline, right? Unfortunately email confirmation autoresponses for Google Forms is an unsupported beta feature (its messages even include a sketchy warning that, basically, it’s not supposed to be used), and I’m not able to manually send confirmation replies for all submissions. Your game looks great! Your responses are certainly worthwhile and won’t go wasted ๐Ÿ™‚ The interview will either wind up posted here on the site or reformatted into the free PDF which’ll also be shared and promoted from HobbyGameDev. Thank you for taking time to share!

  2. Felipe Nanni says:

Hey Chris, like Rotorist, I just wanted to make sure you got my interview. Thanks for doing this, it’s really great getting to know people like us in a different light than “this is my game, buy it”! The questions are really interesting and give us good opportunities to relate with each other. I’m about to play For Our Skyline, from Kurt Mai, and if it weren’t for his interview I wouldn’t get this chance. Bye!

    • Chris DeLeon says:

Hi Felipe – indeed, it went through. Perhaps I should just activate the Google Forms beta support for email autoconfirmation, and people can hopefully overlook the part at the bottom Google appends which says that it’s not ready yet for general use ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for taking time to share your story!
